My Call
So with all this talk about God’s will for our lives, I do wonder what he wants for me. Question: What am I passionate about? I’m passionate about dads doing the dad-ly thing and being there for their wives and kids. I know where that came from, and I have to pray that for others, not being a guy myself :+) And I’m passionate about praying for the church and encouraging others to pray. Not sure why, but God has laid that on my heart for a reason. “Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for my church.” That’s my version of I Samuel 12:23. We don’t want to get complacent and think that it is we who teach well, preach well, play great music, plan great events, make good coffee :+) and consequently win the souls we are trying to reach. We are utterly dependent on Him. God forgive us if we forget to pray for our pastors and our church.
I see two things in you Lynn. 1st you mentioned there. You love to pray for your church. That is something that is often under appreciated, but it is a phenomenal ministry; 2nd, I see you as a connector. We’ve talked about this before, but I can’t remember how many people I have talked to that said Lynn Barbee was one of the first people to have welcomed them into the church. That is also an amazing ministry. Thank you lynn!

You are right. i know for a fact that it is not we who make good coffee. Even this seemingly simple and mundane thing is impossible without His empowering. In our cafe, i have seen repeatedly that if we acknowledge Him, He will bless us, and if we forget Him, we cannot do it by ourselves. If this is true for coffee, isn’t it true for everything? All that we have is His; we only give to Him out of what He has given us. (1 Chr 29:14)
